Default Squeeky 06 Cruiser

My 2006 PT Cruiser Touring Edition has a lot of squeaks from the front. Most noticeable at low speed going over speed bumps or potholes. My mechanic has checked front end and says noise is coming from rear cradle bushings and wants to drop rear cradle and inspect/lube bushings. Also says sway links are dry and recommends lubing these as well. Everything else is OK. Estimate is $100-$150. Other than the annoying squeaking (which I can live with) is there any other reason (safety/mechanical) to get this done? Mileage is 47K

Do to lack of location on your profile,I'm gonna assume you are in the UK,and 'rear cradle' is what you Brits call the lower control arm......If that's true than your mechanic is right; But,I am curious if doing that amount of labor just to 'lube' the bushings on an 8 y/o vehicle with a known 'squeak' issue(only to have it return in 12 months),why not spend the $30-$40 more to install new bushings???(I know that's what I would do!)

Actually, I'm near Seattle and mechanic defined the "rear cradle" as the piece that supports the rear of the engine). Maybe he's a Brit? Good suggestion to just replace rather than lube. Thanks.

He means the rear motor mount. Just replace the bushing inside, its pretty cheap, i replied to the other thread as well, if hes gonna pull it all apart, just replace the bushings and get tens of thousands of miles out of them instead of lubing them and having to replace them in 4-5 months anyway
