Wrong. There's plenty of places around the country that can repair your rims. Look in the yellow pages or let your fingers do the walking on the Internet.

RimGuard Xtreme- Rim Repair / Bent Wheels / OE / Restoration

Wheel Straightening | Rim Strightening | Bent Wheel Repair | Chicago Rim Repair

All depends how badly they're bent.
I had a dented rim that lost air - felt I had nothing to lose, so beat it back to shape using a rawhide mallet, and it then held air.
If it is bent a lot, chances are the rim will crack when trying to re-shape it, but what do you have to lose?

Rubber won't do - will just bounce.
Mine is in better shape, but this'll do...

If the rim is bent, a pro can straighten them to +/- 0 thousands and even refinish them if needed. Once upon a time, I had some wheels that were particularly "soft" and as I recall, 3 of them bent. One of them, the spokes bent at the hub and was not repairable.

Yes they can be fixed---I had one done on my GT since impossible to find in good condition...done from inside so chrome isn't touched--about $250.00 to fix properly.... MJB
