Hey guys...

This is probably a dumb question, so I am apologizing in advanced. I am thinking that I actually might want to get the Goldline 2.75 and 3.25 inch lowering springs. My question is, who makes goldline springs?? I was looking on one website, and it said that Eibach actually makes the goldline springs, or Goldline is a division of Eibach, or something like that. I was trying to find Goldlines homepage, so I could look at the technical information on their website, like how many pounds per inch the springs are, and that kind of stuff. Can someone that has the 2.75, and 3.25 lowering springs post a picture of their car, or give me a link to your website?

Thanks again,

Matt

I have Eibach's 1.5f/2r. Periodically I get alittle bump in the rear. It's abit lively back there. Do you have any recomendations for replacing the rear shocks?

First off...'Goldline' is made by Goldline Springs out of Chino CA. Just had them installed (1.25 front, 2.00 rear). Do it right and do both front and rear at the same time. These springs are great. What a ride (don't forget to cut the bump stops), and look. Just enough to fill the wheel gap, gives it a lower but not slammed look. For me it was also a price thing. 'Eibachs' were 210.00-240.00 plus 30.00 shipping. My 'Goldlines' were 179.00 complete to my door.

Eibach ProKit is a nice kit for a decent drop and better look. Goldlines def give you a much steeper drop, but you have to go with your terrain. IN these parts, slammers will get you some serious body damage.
Prokit is great and with sways and new shocks is a great suspension mod.
Saki, how are the tokiko's holding up?

Matt, I have the GoldLines front and rear and really like the way the car looks. I didn't mind the change in ride quality, at first. It took about a month for me to get a little tired of it so I swapped out the stock shocks/struts with a set of Tokico's I picked up on eBay for $265 (no tax, free shipping). What a huge improvement in ride quality.

I researched this pretty heavily, talked to a lot of people both here and other forums, even non PT Cruiser forums, and the overwhelming consensus was this: the stock shocks/struts are simply not up to the task presented by lowering springs. Even if you like the extra bounce in the ride the stock bits will, at the very least, fail early. Obviously my experience (and yes, my opinion) show that you don't have to change everything at the same time, so if budget is a consideration go ahead and get the springs first and grab a set of shocks/struts in a month or three. They really do make that much of a difference.

I installed the Eibach's a few months ago now, and I LOVE them! Even though the drop isn't as much as the goldline's, it's still noticeable, but also not to the point that I'm scraping my front end on every little bump and curb.

Only issue I've had is with some who sit in the back that say that it's a little more bouncy back there than it was before. But I sit in the front, so that's fine with me!! [}]
I agree with yobiebs.. I got the Eibach Pro-Kit (1.6" front 2.0" rear) and love em'. I also have to watch the dips, etc.. Maybe if we got better shocks, etc. that bouncyness would disappear? Much better handling than before. I recently got Toyo Proxey4's for my 16" rims, a added bounus to handling!

Matt, I had the Eibach Prokit on my '02 5 speed with stock struts/shocks and the Eibach anti-sway bars front and rear. I thought the ride was very close to stock from a comfort standpoint but much better in the handling department. I also live in Michigan and bottomed out the rear a few times (needed upgraded struts/shocks) and scraped the front several times (needed better driving skills). I liked the amount of lowering which greatly reduced the wheel well to tire gap. I also ran 19" wheels in the summer with excellent results. FYI, I am selling my Eibach Prokit for $150 if interested.

purplept,

What springs are you using now? I am still trying to determine what suspension I want to go with. I think eventually I will put Koni's on the car. But like mike-in-orange, I dont have to get both the springs and the koni's at the same time. I think I am actually leaning more towards the Goldline Slammers kit. but I am still concerned with the road conditions. The Cruiser is my daily driver, but ride comfort isnt a problem to me, I like the feel of a lowered car, just feels better when it grips to the road. I think its just becuase I like to drive fast on corners, but you'll have that.

If I got the slammers, I would have to cut the stock bump stops. But when I get koni's I wouldnt have to do that, correct? Also, would I buy special Koni's that are designed to be 2+ inches lower then the stock height? Or do all performance shocks/struts makers pretty much assume your car has been lowered?

Thanks for all your input guys, sorry took so long to reply again. School has been killing me lately. 1 more week, and I am home for the summer! Just finals to go... Its been a long year!

Thanks again,
Matt

Matt,

You still need to shorten the bump stops when using lowering springs including the Eibach ProKit. Also, one problem with most shocks/struts including the Koni Sport (yellow) models you're considering is that they are not "shortened." When lowering a car you lose suspension travel. The way to get back that travel is to use shortened shocks/struts. Consequently, I decided to go with the KW Suspension Variant 1 package which uses shortened and height adjustable shocks/struts. FYI, KW is making the Mopar Stage 2 and 3 suspension kits which are similar to the KW Variant kits but not identical. I've only just installed my KW kit so I don't have much feedback yet but I can tell you that the car is very firm, much firmer than using the Eibach ProKit and stock shocks/struts. The KW Variant 1 kit runs about $1,450.
