Question Removing inner cv joint on driver side

Hello PT Cruiser peeps,

I'm stuck on removing the inner cv joint on my 2002 PT Cruiser. I've searched and haven't found the answer I need. The axle is removed from the cv joint and all is clear to pull it.

I had found something on using a slide-hammer and fork to remove it but I have nowhere to get that fork behind the tripod end of joint. Now I'm stuck. There is a plate(mounted with six bolts) on the transmission, that surrounds the joint. Do I try to remove this to get the fork on?

Any or all help/suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks, Jim

Default Re: Removing inner cv joint on driver side

Well I kept digging and found a thread posted by SkeeJr How do I remove the CV Axle? . He used a combo with visegrips a plate and slide-hammer(Thanks SkeeJr!). I was able to pull it out with visegrips alone. I didn't think about tranny fluid(as it made a big mess). That's ok!!! Now we can start to putting everything back together.

Thanks, Jim
