Default Need your help....quick!

I'm alittle concerned, I have a tire and wheel install set for 8/6 and I did a 'dry' fit of a wheel today. I'm replacing the OEM wheels/tires that are 205/55R16 with 225/40R18. I have the new wheels now that are 7.5, and I don't have the tires yet, they're on order and will be in 8/5. My concern is, with the 'dry' fit of the wheel, I only have the width of a finger between the rim and the front strut tower. Am I going to have a problem, should I have a 215 or even a 205? Need your help....quick! Thanks

why do you think it won't fit? did you buy the wrong offset, or are you just overthinking it maybe? care to post a pic?

seems a lot of people have had and recommended that size here over the years. see here: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site%3Aptc...F40%3F18+front

Thanks very very much for the responses. I don't want to go with spacers, and Rob, I think you found my problem. I don't know the off set of my wheels. I bought them used. What should the off set be for our cars? I did some research and found 18s are 35 and 17s are 38-40. Is this correct? How can I measure my wheel?

If you are accurate on your first post than you are going to have clearance problems it doesn't matter the off set. Tires will flex and steering lock to lock or close to it you may hit other suspension components. You may be lucky with 10mm spacers. There is nothing wrong if you get 5x100 CNC machined spacers. We use them all the time on Road track cars.

There is a lot of measuring that should be done before changing and going to larger wheels and tires on any vehicle. You bought the wheels now you may have to work backwards to make them work?

post a pic or link to the type of spacers you use so
he ends up with a safe setup, not a glorified washer
with 6 holes.

will he need longer studs too? or are these the type
that bolt on and have their own studs?

I measured the back space, and it's 6" , I think it then makes the 'off-set' 51?

I have SRT4 wheels on my PT 225/45/17 and there's only a finger's width of space between the tires and the lower strut. I've Never kissed tire ... even on worn out suspension and HORRIBLE Roads. Prime SRT4 wheels are 17x6 and between +38-40mm .

You're more than likely going to hit due to having a wider 7.5" rim unless you use a spacer. Keep in mind though of the fender as too much out will rub it. Are you lowered any?
