Default Can I really add wheel trims to my alloy wheels?

Not sure if you use the same terminology in the states, so I am talking about actual wheel covers you can stick on, just wondering if you look at my alloy wheels if I really can do this.

All the sellers say you can, but I haven't come across anybody who has done it.

Like the one above, but I just cannot see how it fits over the solid alloy wheel.

You can't! The wheel covers are made for the stock steel wheels, not to cover up a regular alloy wheel. The wheel cover would go over something like this.....

Such a shame. When the companies said for stock models, I really thought my PT was actually stock.

Hmm, I will need to think about these wheels, they are peeving me off now with the rust and flaking, I hear its common for some reason on the PT cruiser alloys.

Maybe it's due to all the grit they keep putting down here. Mine have gone terrible, and the few other PTs I have seen around here seem to be similar.

Major eyesore.

May well be my mission tomorrow to do all i can to scrub them right up

They tend to blister the chrome in the bead area and leak. I think it's also shortcuts in the materials they're made of.

I'm confused.
Your picture seems to show painted alloy wheels - exact same as the ones I had on my '02 - I had no issues, but the chrome ones on my daughter's '03 pitted, peeled, and leaked.
I assure you I get way more snow than you do.
Are yours painted or chrome???

Mine are painted not chrome, but I seem to be not the only one here with this issue.

The rusting and flaking is bad.

Did all 2001 cruisers come with the alloys and not steel wheels, because sellers of the trims seem to suggest that stock 2001 had steel wheels and not alloys.

Either way, I got 4 huge lunkers of a mess on my car.

Base model had steel rims 15" Haven't seen many with painted rims that has this problem. Limited and touring models had rims like your's 16" painted or chrome version. VW rims will fit or maybe some aftermarket? Not sure of pricing where you're at.

Price of a respray is cost of a brand new set. I should take a close up pic of it. It's blistered and peeling.

I'll just have to live with it for now. concentrating on getting main things done really rather than too much of the exterior look.
