Default Montegi Racing wheels (New) Not liking them

So I just bought these rims brand new in the box (mr116) 15".

Im hating the look, not sure why, whether their too small or just doesnt match, not enough red or just not my style. Idk but I dont like them. I really wanted the gt wheels and still do.

Ive always liked chrome or polished aluminum and always had them on all my cars.

The cruiser itself is not my style but I bought it as a daily driver and it grew on me so I decided to do little things to it and really like the car now but wish I would have waited for some gt's. I passed up a set before these for $225.00 and after that can not come across a set. I will trade for a good set of gt's if you ar local.

What do you guys think about the look?

Because you asked....
all response is IMO and personal taste and preferance...
Don't take it personal!

The PT is to high if it was at least lowered it would change the total look with these wheels. ( a little)

Wheels that show a lot of the suspension and brakes should not be used with drum brakes.

This size diameter wheel and design makes the stock PT rotors on the front look small in diameter.

The start of the RED theme is just that a start. If you are going to it and add more accents over the body in RED. Without it your eyes naturally go right to the wheels and than what I mention first in the thread.

The center cap in the wheels ...no comment?

Chrome or polished wheels would distract from all of the above comments.

IMHO

Great points and appreciate the honesty.

I especially dont like that these wheels show a lot of the suspension. Id rather have my hubcaps back I think. Just very disappointed in these wheels.

On some cars its not bad that the wheels show the suspension and brakes and all. I had a 2010 camaro ss with thin 5 spoke wheels that showed everything but I liked the look. Not with this car though

I like the black/red theme, these were my high-school colors, I think they look good together! IMO, the rims look like they belong on a vehicle that is smaller and faster than the PT. To me, the PT is not one built for speed so I would have gone for something more conservative or classic in appearance. I would like to have something chrome or aluminum on my PT, but I've had them on other cars that I have owned, and got tired of the shops nicking the rims when they have to rebalance the tires. So I have the standard steel rims and have found an assortment of plastic hubcaps readily available that are inexpensive and easy to replace at any time to get a different look.

I agree. They do belong on something smaller/faster

What do you guys think these can be sold for? Rims were brand new in box yesterday. Brand new lug nuts and the tires are all in good condition. They are 185/65/15

Also I would highly appreciate it if someone can give me a litsy of which other cars these will fit? I have them on craigslist for sale/trade and would like to know which cars to target or which cars I can trade with. I know they will work with neons.

Also can anyone tell me if the chevy hhr wheels will work with our cruisers?

First of all if you are a bright or polished guy. Then most likely you are not going to like the all black thing. The tires look undersized. I'm not a fan of black wheels on a black car.

Cool Re: Montegi Racing wheels (New) Not liking them

With a black PT, you are usually stuck with black, black and another color theme, or black and (GOD forbid ) chrome!

Personally I like a black car; and the black an red (as said already) is a good color theme start.
That theme would need a red pinstripe.
Not sure why you showing sooooo much suspension.
My 16 inch wheels on the 2010 Couture do not show that much.

And, with the black, silver, and red theme I have going on the Couture, the black with red wheels are something I have been thinking about.
But, NOT 15 inch!

I agree with Nitro. If the car were sitting down a few inches it would look better. Here is my observation as I had to look at your photos a while to figure out what was bothering my eye.

I realized that what was not looking correct to my eye was that everything is dark black and then your eye is pulled to this undersized red circle. This just makes the wheel look even smaller and undersized for the car. Just my 2 cents but by lowering the car it would at least help the wheel and car look better as a package.

I don't like the look of these. The wheels look too small for such a high car.

I the 03-05 17" chrome gt wheels!! They are big and 'blingy' but seem to suit the car.
