Default traction control, Anti lock lights on-car has different tires all round

I bought a 2008 PT touring edition in not bad shape, but it had different tires on each axle. Looks like they just bought used tires and put on it. Two are 205-65-17, one is a 205-60-17 and one is a 225-65-17. (dah) the traction control light and anti lock brakes lights are on and I found a note about what i think is a code (implausible tire reading).

I know that the tires need to be the same, but could something like that cure the light issue?

Was the engine light on when you bought the PT Cruiser?
What engine trouble codes are you receiving?
Which tires do you have in the front?
Have you checked the brake fluid in the reservoir?
Have you checked the fuses?

Chances are the mismatched tire sizes are causing the issue. The different rpm readings at each wheel will cause this issue. I have had this happen on other cars when you had to use the donut spare.

I had to use the donut spare on mine, and light didn't come on.
Other people have different tires on front and rear - at least get the fronts and rears to be the same size.

Check the codes to see which wheel is having the problem. Any problem with the abs triggers the trac light. It uses the same sensors. shouldn't see it unless the sensor is malfunctioning all the time I wouldn't think. Measure each tire side to side to see just how much stagger there is between them. Especially per axle. Just a guess on my part.

as long as the tires are the same size it shouldnt matter if they are the same Brand

Does yours have traction control or just ABS? On traction control with the tire sizes being different it thinks one side is slipping or a sensor is having issues and it triggers the light. Most systems use the ABS to control the slipping which in turn sets the ABS light.
