Default Another strut bar!!!!!

Came across another pretty neat strut bar that looks quite different than the other ones I have seen in use.

Strange routing - how it is brought forward, away from firewall.

Its very pretty but just something else you would have to remove to be able to work on the engine.

I do like the chrome intake cover though.

The way the brackets are made it does not appear to be able to maintain much force.

I've been talking about these with my two other engineering bodies. One was originally an industrial engineer and the other a mechanical engineer. The easiest way to stabilize the strut towers (if they actually need stabilizing) would be to form a very tight connection between them. Instead of needing a large heavy brace, you simply need to tie a cable or thin connecting bar between them with sufficient tightness. This would hold the towers near the limit of inner flex and prevent most outward flex. And in effect this would be better than a brace because with a simple brace, the two towers could still both flex in the same direction to the left or right. But with a very tight cable or bar, the tower on the opposite side from the direction of flex would resist flexing more in that direction. And since tied to the other toward, it too would be unable to appreciably flex.

To do better than this, someone would need additional points of connection to the body of the car and/or gussets between the brace and strut towers.

Again, I have no idea if the strut towers in a PT Cruiser actually flex or not. Nor do I know if flexing side to side represent any kind of a problem for street driving. But this would be one solution. And whatever we do, we should have a way to tighten our bars and should pull our bars as tight as we can get them and then go get a front end alignment.

PS: I just found out that the NOPI twin strut bars not only make your PT 30 mph faster, but they also somehow help convince your wife to let you buy as many PT accessories as you want!

Thank you for that kinder comment. I'd love to see a real study that indicated any value to these on a PT no matter how well designed.

Already did Todd, was going to share but got to much criticism from cranky X PT Cruiser owners and some members and owners that had no idea what they were talking about on the subject. So like a few other things I spent my time and money on PT cruiser related not going to share any DATA. I will post pictures as usual.
