Default Monroe or Gabriel?

My wife accidently bought two front strut assemblies for her Cruiser.
She bought one Monroe and one Gabriel?
Since I'd rather have both sides be the same, which is better?
Monroe or Gabriel?

Thanks

It is not a question of which is better but more what are you looking for in ride characteristic's.

Technically speaking unless you are very sensitive to how your PT drives both are "GREAT" choices!

I would say get the name that" jazzes" your senses and the price that fills the budget?

For what it is worth I have used and installed both brands on my own as well customers vehicles with no complaints.

Monroe and Gabriel
This is incorrect information. They are NOT made by the same company!

This information has been circulating for years and there is NO truth or facts in it!!

As I said I have used them personally and for customers, I was a distributor for Gabriel in the early 80's as well a wholesaler for Monroe.

If you doubt what I just corrected about the information PLEASE feel free to call either and ask them.

But PLEASE STOP posting incorrect information!!!!

Among the many automotive companies that Tenneco owns, it owns Monroe, Walker and Thrust outright. But I don't believe they own Gabriel. However, one of their top executives at Tenneco was named Gabriel. That may be where the rumor comes from.

I've used both Monroe and Gabriel many times over the years on different cars and I've sold and installed both when I was younger. My preference has always been with Monroe based on built quality. They seemed to come with better rubber bushings too back in the day. But like everything else, that changes over time. And I know that at least on some applications, the better lines of Monroe shocks and struts seem to improve the ride somewhat.

But this is all just my personal preference, unless a member here reported some PT Cruiser-specific experience to the contrary, I would likely stick with the Monroe.
