Chrysler indicates that we should only use ATF 4+. When I bought my PT, it had a power steering whine. I replaced the power steering fluid that was in it with synthetic ATF 4+ and the issue was resolved. I recommend sticking with ATF 4+.

Also, you might want to purchase a HAYNES REPAIR MANUAL.Their have been so many times that the manual has helped with torque specs, fluid, elect, removal and installation of parts and so on.And only 19.99.Manual recommends MoparATF+4 AUTO TRANS FLUID TYPE 9602 OR EQUIVALENT For 2002 and later models.

My power steering fluid is a little low. I called the local Chrysler dealer, and the guy in the parts department said ATF+4 for my 2002 Cruiser.

Is that what the factory put in there when it was new? I've never changed the PS fluid, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't putting ATF+4 in there with another power steering fluid. Thanks!

They should have - only 2001 PTs didn't use ATF + 4.
