Default squeaking rear end

my 03 GT only has 95k miles on it (which is only 8.5k miles per year....not a lot of driving) and the rear has been squeaking and creaking for the last 2 years (in summer and winter) and is driving me nuts.

How many of you have had this problem? All the bushings look intact so I'm going to drill all the "u" shaped brackets install zerk fittings and squirt grease in.

i have a lot of miles, but never a squeaky rear end. did you get in back and shake it? does it do it when you rock it side to side, or when you push up and down?

I don't think regular grease is good for rubber bushings...
Spray with silicone spray, then take a test drive to see if that is your cause or not.

The squeaking rear end up here in my part of the woods usually has me staying in the guest room.

This squeaking is very common on 2001/2002 PT's with the rear sway bar. Has a rear sway bar been added to you 2003? And if so, try greasing the bar where it goes through the two rubber shackle bushings that hold it on the rear axle. See the silver part in the photo below.

And mine came with grease - a whitish paste that I am quite sure was silicone-based, not petroleum based.

The bushing clamps on mine have grease zirks on them so they may be aftermarket. The anti sway bar looks to be larger diameter than the one pictured {and not nearly as clean}too.

I used lithium grease on all the zirks I could find {which were few and far between} under the car.
