Default Inner fender question.

I have an question that has been on my mind for a while.

On the right side of the car (passenger side so there be no miss understanding ) my inner fender looks like this:

There you have a nice channel for the air cooling of the brakes but on the driver side it seems like something is missing.

Behind the brakes you can only see the gearbox, are there something missing or
did the car come this way?

Looks normal to me?

As far as modding anything there.

I would leave everything alone. Unless you are going to be mountain driving you are never going to heat the brakes enough that you need any more ducking.

Besides if you are using the brakes that much normally maybe it time invest in a Skip Barber Driving School or something like it.

This is NOT and insult at all!!!

These classes are FUN and you will always learn something and come out of it a better driver.

I use to take them as much as I could afford it and had the time to do so over the years.

Cool Re: Inner fender question.

looks normal to me. I think Chrysler left the plastic off that side to give enough room for the end of the transmission...

Thanks then I know.

It bugged me that the left and the right sides was so asymmetrical.
But if you guy are saying that that is how it should be I settle for that.

And Lynn, driving school/course is fun, I know, but I never seem to get the time to attend.

Yes ground straps, what is it good for? I haven't had several of the ground straps for as long as I had the car and the car has not blown up yet.

I have read about the straps and there are a theory about micro welding spots on the wheel bearings, really how important are the straps?

And in that case where are the different straps? As I know one on each side of the front struts as you pointed out, one between the hood and the front fender, one between the muffler and the body, did I miss anyone?

This is the same area on my '06 Touring Edition. Just at the front lower area of the gear box, there does appear to be some kind of a baffle or channel:

In the US of A there are two brake cooling ducts in the bottom of the front bumper as shown below:

Half of the interior makeup of the left (drivers side here in the states) is formed by this piece of plastic:

The duct (tunnel) that directs the air to the brakes on our right (passenger) side is formed by an upper and lower piece of plastic. The upper half is formed by our inner fender at its lowest point and the bottom half is formed by our "splash sheild". The splash sheilds seem to be missing (lost) on many of our PTs. I can't find my pics of our splash sheild right now, but I'll post them when I do.

Since you are right hand drive, I can't say if your right (drivers) side duct is setup as ours is, but logic would tell me that you should have a duct (tunnel) of some kind.

Aside from what ever the internet members say/claim.... Chrysler added additional grounding cables on some newer models to resolve electrical continuity concerns. (not problems) And yes I am aware of the TSBs about this.

It is not a bad idea and I would often suggest to install a few extra, body to frame and frame to engine grounds. It can't hurt and may be considered a form of preventative concern modding.

Now if you don't get on this your PT is about to BLOW!

And as for the brake ducting on a PT Cruiser.....well!! I made my response!
