Default Does Anyone Know if I can upsize tires on '08 Cruiser?

My '08 Cruiser is riding on the stock 195/65/R15 tires. I would like to change the tires to 205/70/R15s, which are a little over an inch bigger in diameter, to gain 1/2" of ground clearance and reduce cruising RPM's a little. Does anyone know if this will work without tire rubbing in full turns? Thanks.

I'd be more concerned about the tires rubbing the strut.

This post has always helped me decide..

Maximum tire size

The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.

Thanks all. Jim, I was wondering if you typed the correct size for your replacement. Did you just increase width and not aspect ratio? Wouldn't the 195-65-15 and 205-65-15's have the same outer diameter, just different widths? I got to looking at current clearance between tire and strut and there is only about 3/4" with well-worn tires, so a tire about 5/8" greater in radius would get very close to strut. At this point, I am leaning toward sticking with the stock size. Sam's Club has agreed to try the 205/70/15s on for size before I buy, so I may do that rather than ordering from Discount Tire Direct. In no hurry, just need new tires before winter. Thanks!

Jim, disregard my last, I got to thinking if you increased width with the same aspect ratio, you also increased diameter - by just over 1/2" in your case! I do believe I could safely do the same on my PT. Thanks, this is just the answer I was looking for. Only increases ground clearance by about 1/4", but helps none-the-less!
