I am in the process of changing out my rear shocks. I wanted to see how they work and pushed down on the new ones and was easily able to compress the shocks. Is that supposed to happen? I would have thought that it would give a lot more resistance to my small amount of weight compared to the weight of the car.

The design is different from the plain hydraulic shocks of years ago. The faster the piston action the slower the rate of compression is.
