Lightbulb Chrome wheel for Alloy wheel switch advise sought

I have a 2000 PT Cruise with the 5-spoke chrome wheels. They're in terrible shape with the "chrome" peeling off in razor-like shards and the wheel generally sucks.

SO...Craig's List has four 6-spoke Alloy wheels from a 2005 PT Cruiser that I can pick up locally.

Both wheels are 16" and I just plan to switch the tires to the 2005 Alloy wheels.

QUESTIONS:
1: What problems do you see in my plan?

2: Will I need different lug nuts?

3: Can I assume the bolt pattern to be the same?

NOTE: I don't need nice new rims recommended as this is basically a car we use for work to transport good....pure utility.

Thanks for your help!

I don't see a problem with your plan as both will be the same bolt pattern and size. Not sure of the bolts themselves but they are easy enough to pick up a new set at any auto parts store.

1) No problems
2) No
3) Yes - all PTs have same bolt pattern

Thanks for the fast input!

So, I bought these four wheels used at $200 for the set.

Much thanks all around and I'll think of you guys fondly as I quickly and deftly motor my way around the protesters, dirt bike gangs and trash cans set alight in the streets of Baltimore.

Nice find on the wheels at a great price. I don't suppose your old wheels are the chrome, 5 spoke, are they? I need a good center cap for one of mine. The one I got off ebay was too small. It's a 2" diameter and I need a 2 1/8" one. If you have a good one left, I'd be interested in buying it.

Good post, I'm in the same situation. I'll have to start looking for a newer set of used wheels.

chuzz, those original center caps were terrible. They seem to have been made of some pot-metal that disintegrates over time with weather exposure. I think I've '"repaired" all of mine (not my best effort). Good luck.
