I had an oil change at a local service center. The mechanic advised me that the lower control arm bushings are distorted and coming out of the metal sleeves. the control arms are an integral part of the front suspension. I arranged for a Chrysler dealer to determine the status of the bushings. They agred that they were defective. Supprisingly Chrysler replaced the entire control arms at no cost since my PT was still under warranty. Apparently the busing is presed in to the control arm and can't be repaired. They did not indicate if the bushing are a chronic problem, but it may be worthwhile to ahve them checked at your next oil change. This is one of those IF YOU DON'T NOTICE IT, THEY AREN'T GOING TO TELL YOU. Extra side benefits include an improved ride, and they did a free front end alignment. Don't wait until it's too late, check them yourself, or have someone check them that has knowledge of the lower control arms. Your costm if YOU have to foot the bill can be upwards of 350.00 to 400.00.....

The UK PT site has lots of posts about bad "bushes". I guess I have to have mine checked out, too. I thought there was a way to get better bushings - urethane - RallyDRock did it. [:I]

yeh i popped those in on new ywars day in my driveway.
took about an hour per side. I didnt have a press at home then so i burned the bushings and pushed them out with a stick. big difference and the new ones will never go bad, much better design and material.

PTC>>>I don't know where you live but your bushing statement apppears to be a word-for-word duplication of my insert in the North Coast PT Cruiser newsletter (Ohio). No complaint, just curious if you agree.

But what about a Popping Noise? Mine needs those replaced and they said that it would alleviate the popping noise that my car has been making. It seems to do this when I am making sharp turns where the car is on uneven ground (going through turn lights, hills, etc)
