Default Front-end alignment - and tire and wheel changes

So... gonna get my car in the shop next Thursday to have new control arms installed. I assume they will do an alignment after that.

The thing is, sometime in the next week or three I was planning to get new tires - and possibly new wheels. Is it better to have the tires on BEFORE the alignment gets done?

And what if I did bite the bullet and go to a 17 inch wheel (currently running the stock 16 inch) - does that necessitate getting another alignment, or not?

I have performed dozens alignments (when I worked for Grand Auto ) and can tell you it is always better to wait until you have all the worn chassis parts replaced before you get an alignment. Although many manufactures of the alignment equipment training guides suggest that it is not necessary to have new tires I have found enough deviation between aligning before a tire new tire change and then checking and re-doing the alignment that I would recommend to wait.

So ideally, have the new tires on before getting the front end work done?
