Pt Braking Issue.

Hey I got a PT Cruiser 01 I have been calling Satan for a while now and I gotta love it but this thing has died on me several times now, but that is not the case anymore... so far.

I have an issue that I have had with this. When I begin to brake it does this wave type creaking noise that sounds like a rocking chair going back and forth depending on the speed of which the car is braking from. It is not as noticeable when I brake more aggressively. I had just recently gone and got my Sway Bar Links done and Bushings done. The noise was gone for a little and came back the same day. Does anyone have an idea on what this could be?

Does make me a little concerned that this is still going on. It did get rid of the clacking noise my car made when I hit bumps. So that is a big plus.

Just to warn I am a little bit of a freshman on cars. I will try.

It sounds like either the rotors are warped or the drums are out of round...depends if you have disk or drum brakes.

Take your front wheels off and inspect your rotors, both surfaces, rear rotors too if you don't have drums, you will find raised rusted ridges on the edges. You can eliminate this by lightly grinding or air grinding the rusted raised area off which will extend its life, but will eventually return or replacing the rotor which will last longer and eliminate any pulsing or shimmy when braking. I've even use a rust reformer after the grinding to coat the rusted area, but due to heat it only helps extend the next time it need done.

Inspect the rear bushing in the lower control arms if your rotors are new or does not have rusted ridges.

Sorry about the late on response. Ya, the issue was warped rotors. I had a very close mechanic replace the Brake Pads and Rotors on the front and the noise instantly disappeared. I am a happy man knowing I might not die on a highway now. Thank you guys!
