Default Raised White Letters on 16 inch tires

So, I'm beginning to find out there are no 16" tires out there with Raised White Letters. Bummer. I would really love a set for FIREBALL.

A guy at work has a VW with raised white letter tires so I asked him where he got them. He didn't. He used one of those lettering pens. I was shocked.

SO, today I took an up close look and a photo. Pretty cool. He says that the tire color does bleed through a little after a while (you can tell). But from a couple feet away you would never know that he did it himself.

I remember back in the '70s my brother did the tires on his Dodge Magnum, but the color didn't last, and it was really difficult to do, (and it didn't look as nice as this guy's).

Has anyone had any luck here, either with finding 16" tires with RWL or with the marking pen?

MANY years ago on my father's car I used white tire paint, and it bled thru after a short time.
My father didn't care one way or the other...

Not raised white letters, but I did use a Testors RED paint pen to overlay red onto the raised ridge that already existed on my Firestone Fusion tires. Looks at least a little like the 60's muscle car red line tires.

I renew the red about once a year.

You could probably use a Testors WHITE paint pen with good results.

The Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tire is a cosmetic performance tire for the classic car enthusiast who loves the original raised white-letter styling. With it's classic 5 rib tread pattern and white letters, the Cobra Radial G/T tires looks great on older domestic "muscle cars", and allows the owners to enjoy spirited driving with an up-to date modern casing design and rubber compounds.

I'd give them a call and see if the white letters are available as it says in the write-up and the price isn't bad for 4 tires. Not sure about shipping.

One of the big reasons the white letter availability is mostly limited to 15 inchers is the height of the sidewall. 17" for sure has too little space between the rim and the pavement to pull it off. 16" are a gray area where the sidewall is too short for the big chunky letters but perhaps some under size graphics could be squeezed in there. (But it's not going to be often seen or done.)
The typical "White Letter" customer, in general, is the old classic car with 14/15 inch wheels and tires so that's where the tire makers focus will be. It's the old law of supply and demand.
