Chrome rims in the winter?

I live in Southern IL, and in the winter we usually get alot fo snow and ice. My city uses cinders on the road to get rid of the ice. I believe we use more of that than salt since salt is more expensive. Would this damage my chrome rims? I plan on having alot of chrome highlights on my PT, and I am worried about how to keep them shiny and new when in those winter months! Any help is apprecianted.

No matter how hard you try to keeps chrome rims shiny with winter salt and the crap they put on the roads they will rust. The best way to keep them looking good is to get a set of winter wheels.

Would you suggest using the stock rims in the winter and switching to my chrome rims in the spring? We didn't get the stock polished rims, so it is just that bland metal.

Most of the Cruiser here that live in harsh climates have those special rims have bought a set of steel rims as you mention or just found a nice set on ebay.

I use my stock wheels in the winter.when I take them off I
mark them so the tires get rotated at the same time.
