What exactly is this cable and should I replace it?

Default What exactly is this cable and should I replace it?

I haven't had the PT long and it looks like the former owner's mechanic must have been the "cheap" kind.

When checking the brakes, I noticed that the cable/wire (pics attached) on BOTH sides of the front end near the brakes has been cut.

My dad seems to think it might be a grounding cable, but I want to be sure.

What is this cable, exactly?
Is it worth getting replaced?

Those are ground straps, they should be attached to the body and the struts:
