Got to keep something exciting, as one of them said recently that the forum activity goes up when a thread gets heated

Do you have a magnetic base dial indicator to check the axles for run out? I just hate buying parts. It does make sense though because you said the axle nuts were loose when you got the car. Could be something easier like a rotor too. Just hate to see you do axles and have it persist

You might also have the shop check just the rims for out of round. A couple of years ago I bought some standard steel replacement rims and after putting them on my PT it had a terrible vibration. Finally after several attempts of rebalancing and moving the tires around, Goodyear removed the tires from the rims and checked just the rims. 3 of the 4 were out round and had some "hop" to them while spinning them on the balance machine, you could see it, it was that bad. I returned them for a full refund to where I got them from as they were junk, even though they are sold as "reconditioned" which basically just means "repainted"

Thanks again for ideas. I can borrow a dial indicator to check them for runout. I guess I would need to remove the rotors and place car in neutral and then spin the hub and check it for eveness with the dial?

The wheels are the factory aluminum dream cruiser wheels. 17" aluminum. I guess that is possible, but would require complete tire removal to check like you said

Have you checked rear wheel bearings and bushes? My old Kia Rio behaved very similarly, tyre balancing and wheel alignment did nothing then at MOT it failed on a rear bearing and when that was replaced it was cured (well for six months until the other one went )

Yeah the rear wheel bearings are tight with no slop so they appear good. When I get time I am going to try and swap my spare tire in at each spot to see if I have a bent wheel or something like that
