Default Sqeak and thud noise

My PT makes a squeaky noise and thud when hitting bumps. Sounds like from the front passenger side. The squeak is worst when it is cold (over 70 degrees, I don't even hear the squeak). After driving for a while the squeak goes away completely. I have had the motor mount/strut mounts changed except the bottom one (seems to be in ok condition). Any ideas? The struts seems to be good (don't have excessive bounce or anything when hitting bumps). Any ideas?

There's a 90% chance it's the rear bushing on the front lower control arm. Moog makes a redesigned control arm bushing so it doesn't happen again. You will need a shop press to remove the bushings or you can buy complete control arms.

A badly worn ball joint will also make the thump as it slips back into its holder, IF IT DOESN'T- and comes all the way out you will loose control as it will flip the wheel to the side forcing you off the road, hopefully not into someone else.

It happen to me, lucky I was only going 20 MPH on back road, noone around.

Is there a surefire way to check it to make sure it is the control arm that is shot? There is 0% vibration or play in the steering wheel.

Did you have any other issues before this happened? Loose steering etc.? My steering wheel doesn't vibrate and there is no play.

This doesn't really seem to affect alignment too much. You just get the ubiquitous bump with you go over things. Sometimes you can feel it right under you feet because it kind of is.

To check for this, look at the bushings and see if the rubber is torn and if the top of the part of the control arm around the bushing appears to have been able to hit the chassis.

And here's my write up on all of this:
