I bought the "Shock Tower Strut Brace" from Race & Street. No other name besides that. It comes in "Yellow" but can be painted to match anything you desire. It works great.

According to BTG their strut tower bar is designed to "flex a little" and should be of no concern. If you want to save some bucks then get the Freedom product since it is less money and does the job. However, it you want that "beefy and polished look", then the way to go, IMHO (especially if your have a turbo and plan to show the car with the hood open), is with BTG which is what I did--no regrets whatsoever. I got the Freedom bar and I am happy with the results as it was easy to install on my GT, looks sharp with the word FREEDOM in red on my polished SS bar, and it works great with no flex. It does firm up the steering pretty nice, and it got rid of that tippy feeling I use to have going over the cross-gutters on my street. I bought it from PTuning and it only cost me $120.00 and was delivered free and quickly. Thanks to all of you that assured me it was a descent bar and not a rinky dink one that uses tie raps etc. Thanks again![8)]

I had a freedom designs strut bar on my 01 LE. I just received my new turbo model from Race & Street (Freedom Designs again. I thought about geting the BTG bar, but for the $$$ I decided on the Freedom again.

I don't show off the engine compartment much so I felt the extra Bling was not nessecary. Besides Maggie is great to deal with!

Question... Is there a big difference between the Freedom Design and the APC strut bars? The vendors seem to use the same picture for both. The Revel Enterprises website even says they are selling the Freedom Design strut bar, but when you go to order on a drop down menu, it shows the APC product number. What gives? Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but I have read some negaive things about APC products.[:I]

Freedom Design may be supplying APC with their new tower strut bars now since the design *appears* to be so similar. *BUT* I haven't seen the new APC tower strut bars up close, so it would be hard to say if it is the same bar and/or is actually using the same materials (polished stainless steel tubing and brackets). The pricing seems to be similar too ($79-$89).

The original APC tower strut bar for the PT was 2 tower brackets bolted to the struts and a thin mild steel threaded rod to tie it all together. Clearance problems with brackets dented the hood and tore the hood blanket plus it flexed too much to be considered effective. Most of the early PT owners junked the APC for R&S or Freedom Design tower strut bars. Lack of or loss of sales and negative customer feedback/experiences probably prompted APC to abandon the original design. But one wonders why APC took so long to come up with a replacement or realize the 1st design was junk in the first place. To get rid of whatever stock they had?

make it easy on yourself Buy the Freedom Bar form Race & Street. It's cheaper, works as well if not better than the others, no clearance issues, & no problems with the vendor.

See it's that easy!

I just installed the Freedom Design strut bar purchased from race and street.

I cannot explain how much better the car handles! At 80mph on the freeway it does not sway as much. The cornering is ridiculous, because before the bar, i used to feel like i was gonna roll the car over :P

Perfect!

Crewzin,

Are you talking about this item at Race & Street?
Wildfire STB

It looks like the one in your picture, does that mount to 3 bolts, or just the two? Did you use any kind of special paint for yours? I think I would end up leaving it Yellow, but other might like to know.

Thanks,
Matt
