2004 PT Cruier GT Lower Chrome Grille Insert

Long story short, my wife almost pulled the bumper off of this car a while back when she drove up onto a parking stop that was too high and then backed up. The chrome lower grille insert came loose and is probably still there. Unfortunately, she doesn't remember when or where it happened.

Now we are trying to get the damage repaired and the guy at the body shop says the dealer is telling him that this car did not come with chrome inserts on the lower grille, that they must be aftermarket. This is BS, right? It was my understanding that the GT came with lots of chrome accents including both upper and lower grilles.

Anyway, I was hoping someone here could help. Does anyone have the part number for the chromed lower grille insert I need? Better yet, does someone have one of these parts that they are willing to sell?

Also, if someone has some marketing literature that shows the stock GT with upper and lower chrome grills, maybe you could scan it and send it to me.

I'm pulling my hair out over this and I don't have that much to start with! Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong but ever picture I bring up of a 2004 GT doesn't have a chrome grill. The dealer may be right about it being aftermarket. Even the chrome package on some of the car didn't have the lower grill.

Are you the original owner to your PT? If not, someone may have added the chrome accents.

Okay, thanks for the info, guys. I should have included a photo but I don't think I have one of the front grille, anyway. I'll see if I can get the one from the body shop.

Near the bottom of the build sheet, I see this:
Customer Preferred Package 2CR

Is this the chrome package?

The sales brochure doesn't help much but it's great to have!

The 2004 Dream Cruiser did come with chrome accents in the grill. If the GT is made the same, the lower grill with chrome accents is a separate part from the bumper cover. On others without accents, the lower grill is just part of the bumper cover.

Is your lower grill a separate part? If so, it's like factory. Of course, many folks add factory parts after the fact. I do a lot of that myself.

Here's the factory chrome accented grill set up:






And in this photo, the silver/blue PT is the 2004 Dream Cruiser that has this two-piece lower grill with factory chrome accents. You can see on the gold 2002 and tangerine 2003 that the lower grill is just part of the bumper cover. And on the 2005 dark brown (taupe) PT, it only has chrome accents on the upper grill and the lower grill is the standard one that's part of the bumper cover. If your original lower grill is like that one, the chrome accents are likely an aftermarket add-on.
