Hey everybody, sorry to push this but a few days ago someone talked about a wax called NXT next generation wax. I looked at the sight, looks good. Someone said wax is wax all the same. I have to disagree. That said, I really like Megular's product I've use wax and cleaner, and #7 because it is clear coat safe and you can use it even after a car just came out of the paint shop. But I was introduced to Megular's product called final inspection. A good touch up wax, real easy to use spray and wipe, has a silicone in it suposed to help keep the car stay cleaner longer because of that. Hum, has anyone tried it an what is differance between that an NXT? [8D]

Gary's gonna kill me for this....
I got the NXT Generation Tech Wax the other day thru UPS (couldn't find it locally) and tried it on both my PT and my Vette. On the silver PT, I couldn't really see a big difference...but on the Vette..YES I did one section on the tail, let it dry for 20 minutes (per instructions) and wiped it off. Let me start off by saying this car doesn't go out in the rain, gets cleaned every time I bring it back from using it and gets waxed/polished quite often. Anyway, after wiping the NXT wax off, the section that I did was a deeper, glossier color than the parts around it. It almost looked like a new coat of paint about one shade darker than the surrounding parts that weren't done. I immediately waxed the rest of the tail section which turned the whole tail into the new color. I'll be spending the rest of today in the garage on the rest of the car. ![]() |

I can concede that the NXT stuff may shine better than Gary's Sealant, but the question I have is, will it protect the paint for up to 6 months, or will you need to recoat every 30 days? My time on the weekends is quited limited.

I can understand your concerns, PT-ERA, but I have a funny feeling that a lot of cruisers have a monthly schedule. [8D]

Final inspection has NO protective properties what so ever. It is a spray detail, designed to remove finger prints and smudge marks. I think my sealant has a better shine than any wax around (since I'm testing stuff all the time on body parts) The only reason I can think off if you are not getting the results I get is in the pre-work. PLUS, it will lasat 30 days, I know Crewzin, you like to dive in there every week or so. For you, wax is fine. I just detailed a car of a Lawyer and he like to wax car every other week. (he's clueless about prep work) so I do his car the right way 2-3 times a year. and he washes and waxes away. He feels he is involved in the process.

One more thing I forgot, if you use my "new" poly spray on top off the sealant, you will need to wear sun glasses when you look at your paint, or you will go blind. [8D] cool shades eh?

My Pt gets hit with water from sprinklers daily, unavoidable, so I have the battel of water spots, what works to helps remove the spots and keep it from spoting.[:I]

stirfry
waterspots, avoid it like the pague. Cars worst enemy. Quick detailer handles it pretty well though. On vacation once I thought I was being smart and parked way out next to an island. Checked on the car the next morning only to discover a million nice white water marks all over the Cruiser. Spent the next half hour quick detailing. It sucked. Next time I'll park way out but away from the islands. |

Just FYI:
NXT is Meguiar's latest synthetic wax/sealant. NXT is still too new is get actual reports of its durability, but one would suspect it is more than 30 days. Meguiar's #7 is their Show Car Glaze, which is used more for a car show than a daily driver. Try Meguiar's #16 Paste Wax instead of #7. Meguiar's Final Inspection is a good, body shop safe, quick detailer. Meguiar's Final Detail (not body shop safe and available only at auto body supply stores) has been growing in popularity and leaves your paint very slick. Since you are located in Hawaii, contact Ranney aka Pakshak, http://pakshak.com/ , and try Poorboy's EX-P Sealant or ClearKote's Vanilla Moose, Carnuaba, and Quik Shine (water based quick detailer that also leaves your paint very slick and is body shop safe). Ranney also carries top quality microfiber towels at reasonable prices. As far as water spotting, there's nothing you can do about preventing them, if it's a daily sprinkler thing and you can't park anywhere else or don't have a good car cover (WeatherShield® for example). Try removing them asap by using your quick detailer (Final Inspection, etc) or by washing your car. If you still have water spots then try a claybar and if necessary, a 50/50 mix (or stronger=more vinegar) of White Vinegar and Distilled water (good for cleaning your windows too). A good paint cleanser will also remove any water spotting (my favorite is S100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser, available at most motorcycle dealer/shops, like Harley Davidson). The key thing is not to let the water spots set too long before removing them. The minerals in the water will eventually etch your paint and any more water drying in the same spot will expand the damage. Hope this helps
