The only thing you can really do is drive like an old lady. No offense to the ole ladies out there. Ya got a 3,000 pound un-aerodynamic brick being moved around by a 150hp 4 cylinder and it takes gas to do it. The more times you stop, the more gas it takes to get going again. Tread lightly on the throttle and you can improve on 20 - 23mpg but the people behind you won't like it.

[8D]I agree with the zin. I've been wonder about the same thing. I've gotten only 20mpg at best most times, 16-17. But the fact that I do mostly in town driving. Stop lights, and traffic has got to be it. Also the A/C is on most of the time. Also having a automatic lowers the mpg. I get the best milage when I use the old cruise control, take a long trip, like 30 miles, and drive like old lady. People behind me don't always appericate it, but after all it's called a cruiser. Gas here is now $2.50 a gallon. [B)] I'm sure yours is a little cheaper. So it all realitive.

If you're still stock, an intake system will help. The best is the K&N FIPK, but almost all will give some benefit (If you keep your foot out of it to hear the roar). Synthetic oil will also help a bit - but both of these are hard to justify just for mileage. The oil protects better and the intake gives more pep off the line.

It's acceleration that really eats gas - do it slowly.

This weekend I just filled up, hopped on the highway and went downstate to see a concert. Came back and the tank was empty. I figured 21 mpg at abou 80-85 mph on the highway average. You may get to that 23 mpg, but doubtful no matter what you do will you see 27 mpg.

Went to Daytona this weekend, a hour away on I-95, had filled up before and just filled up again today, for a change we got 22.2 mpg, best so far.

We have an auto, have replaced the plugs & wires, today installed AirAid filter so now we'll see if it improves. BTW Daytona was AWESOME!!!![8)]

I guess I must be lucky! My worst milage so far has been 24.5 and the best 28 mpg. I don't drive like a age challanged female (being PC []) and my PT is an auto, so I don't understand the mpg difference.
I haven't modified my engine at all, I did go to Mobil-1 but no real diff there, and I have ordered a K&N filter off of E-Bay that CREWZIN missed[B)]. Hope that helps some.

I just thought of another factor to weight in. Road conditions, are you traveling flat land long streches. Up in the moutains or rolling hills. And speed of course on the highway. [8)]
