Default Shaving Tailgate Wing Emblem

Anyone shaved the wing emblem off their tailgate? Looks to me that the center of the emblem doesn't just cover the handle, but is the handle. So, shaving the emblem would leave me needing to fabricate a handle, correct?

I dont follow.

Are you talking about the gold chrysler piece? If so, yes...you can remove it and replace it with a Trenz billet piece. Pretty sweet. I have it. Take a heat gun to the old badge and peel away.

the wings and the handle are one piece
removing the emblem will take the handle with it and leave a hole in the hatch. you can weld some sheet metal in the hole and remove the key hole too, then just get a solenoid to open the lock with a button on the interior. this can cost anywhere from $250-$1,000 depending on who does it.

Yes, I am talking about removing the entire wing emblem entirely, not just the gold Chrylser logo in the middle of it. Thanks. I can do all the welding, solenoid and paint work myself, just as I've done on several cars before. I just wanted to double check myself and make sure that the center portion of the wing was the actual lift gate handle before I started.
