Default Just left a deposit for a PT

Hi guys

Newbie here.

I finally decide on getting a used Silver 2001 LTD PTc with 60K miles for a total of 7800(tax DMV fee included) Manual. Do you think it's a good price. The car is in good condition but does have some wear in side and some paint is scrape off under the front bumper(supermarket concrete parking guard damage). All minor cosmetic stuff. The dealer(Honda)(VERY NICE PEOPLE) also agree to replace the battery cause the one is leaking acid and is corroded (+ and -) plus they were having problem starting it without jumping. How embarassing. I got the price down from 8500 to 7200 so I'm OK with it

It's my 1st manual car and believe it or not I choose the PT over an 2001 Honda s2000 for $16000. I still can back out and get the S2000 but I'm 99.9% sure now. All my friend wanted me to get the S2000 but of course it's not their $ and 16000 vs. 7800 is almost twice as much and I'm going to only use it for daily driving and I need more cargo space maybe for a bike and a family.

Today, I didn't even test drive it(can't drive manual) I only test ride it and it feels weak already compare to other cars I'm use to(all turbo euro cars) but it's affortable useful and the look well you either like it or hate it and I like it. The ride is comfortable and well the radio is NO where near an Audi sound system but it's ok. The interior looks and feel a little cheap but it's still better than alot of cars.

What do you guys think was i stupid not getting an S2000

[:I]

As for me I don't really think so cause i'm alot happier knowing i have more $ in the bank.[8)]

For daily driving purpose, it would be a good buy. Second, if you don't know how to drive a manual, it's a good car to practice with (at least you don't lose alot of money if you somehow ruin the transmission).

When you get confortable with the 5-Speed, you can always upgrade to a manual GT (Turbo PT's).

P.S. It's pretty easy to learn manual, after a week, you'll get pretty confortable. Personally, I think heay traffic is good, since you do get alot of practice going from 1st to 2nd and back to 1st alot [].

Congrads. Ctown; It sounds like a respectable price/good deal. Guss where you live an advaliblity has a lot to do with pricing. I checked where I live and sugg retail is about 12,000 on something like what you have. You'll love the space of the PT.
I went from a 4.2 liter engine to the 2.4 big differance. Speed isn't everything. Stick is more interesting to drive, once you get used to it you'll like it. Just like any used car keep an eye on things, make sure you follow the maintaince schedule.
Enjoy the ride.[8D]

Ctown, welcome to this forum. There are a lot of very pt wise
people here.Sounds to me like you got a very good price.
I wish I had a stick.My next Cruiser will be.I would get a
K&N drop in air filter ,it will help with improve power
and gas milage.(around $30)The way I figure you have about
$8200 dollars to spend on mods. WOW what I could do with that.LOL
I have found that people either love or hate the PT's there doesn't seem to bee any middle ground.Me ,I love them. The bottom line
is, it your money, get what you want.[^]

Thnaks guys

I don't think I'll spent anymore # on the PT when I finally get it. I got the bug years ago and I'm cure now. Maybe I'll get a K&N and some touch up paint to fix some paintchips. Also I think I'll need a new clutch soon

I had a 2.4 before and I hated it cause it's an auto. I don't miss that car one bit.

Friends still insist on the S2000 but like Jimbo says it's my own $ I should get what I want(well what I need actually).(BTW most of them are good friends and good people but they're all immature "ricers" and will use up their life saving for a useless car that they don't need. As for me I want $ for food, a house and for family[|)]

I hope the car is reliable I don't have much spare $ for major repairs. I once own a 91 240sx and that was a $ trap sucker. few hundred dollars for each month for the 1st year of ownership until I couldn't handle i anymore and sold it for the same amount of $ that I got it for. but repair cost me atleast $3000+.

The last owner of this car didn't seems to take too good care of this car. The interior wears more than others of the same year but the price and mileage is midlife fair and since it's a 2001 it sold last for a new good years before problem surfaces(I HOPE) Also it's my 1st Domestic[|)] O but I heard Chy got own by Mer but I the DOmeplatiky feel is still around inside[^]

Welcome to both Ctown & Lynxx. Lots of great people on this forum. Good luck with your PT's, you will learn to really like them.

Lynnx, the wiring should already be there. I went to a radio/audio shop and had a keyless system installed, it did have power locks already.

Where in OK are you. I have a daughter and family in NW OKC?

Now I can't wait to pick the car up. Even my "ricer" friend see the point of getting The PT over the S2000 when I tell them tax along could be $1400

I hope I'll have a good experience owning my 1st domestic euro company own car.
