Default Rear window defroster

On my 2003 T. ED three of the lines of the defroster do not work. Anyone else have a similar problem? Would like to know before I hit the dealership again.
Thanks - BTW this is a great forum and I am really learning a lot about this cool car.[8D]

All of the lines should work. If 3 are not working, the rear window defroster needs to be replaced.

Let the dealer fix it. You have to be careful when wiping the inside of the window - the defroster elements are adhered to the glass and you can break them by scratching.

if the dealer is a s@@@head, there are available bottles of fluid that can be painted on the defrost grid (like white-out). these products will splice the break in the grid and the defroster. they come in very small bottles or tubes on blister cards (that hang from peg board hooks) @ auto shop places like pep boys, kragen, shucks, checker and the like.
good luck.

...Had the same problem when it was new. The dealer used package tape to put a temporary tag on the inside of the rear window.

Removing the glue broke the connection. They replaced the rear windshield free. It would have cost about $350-.
