Many thanks JPMS GT. I put the page in favorites. I ordered the filter before finding this forum. I was wrong about what I paid, it was only $45.32 + tax. A $32 lesson I wont forget. I don't know if all PTs are able to use a cabin air filter, but they get real dirty in 15,000 miles (Wix site illustrations). Using a $13 filter would keep the AC evaporator coils clean, as well as one's lungs.

The retail price is $16.00. It is probably cheaper to just buy the entire cabin filtration system (filter and housing) from the dealer than trying to locate the replacement Wix filter (probably cost about the same)or ordering over the net (price plus shipping costs, say $13.00 plus $7.00 for UPS shipping). Can either inspect and replace the existing housing or keep the new housing and just change the filter. Also your part number seems a bit off. The one I bought and is listed at just about all the Mopar or Chrysler parts and for all PT year models (2001-2005) is #82206886.

By time I need another cabin air filter, I should have a better idea about where to shop. Many thanks!

There's a way of using a Briggs & Stratton #5063 to get a next-best-thing level of cabin air filtration.
There are also some standard 'fram' filters that fit with a bit of duct tape.

The cabin air filter is located behind the windshield washer bottle. You can't see it until you remove the inlet grill above the windshield washer filler. '03s, and '04s have the housing from the factory. You have to remove the air inlet grill in front of the windshield only on the right side. I left the wiper arm in park, but you can also stop the wipers in mid-stroke, for a little extra clearance. You need a phillips screwdriver, and a 10mm socket on a 6" extension, or 10mm nut driver. There are 4 screws to remove the grill. 3 on top, and 1 near the right side hood hinge. These screws are for fast installation, and only expand a plastic plug that holds the trim on. Be very gentle, and you may have to hold the front plugs with your finger to get the screws to back out. After removing the grill, remove the 3 10mm bolts holding the washer bottle. Don't disconnect anything on the bottle, you just tilt it forward. There should be a 'snap-in' grill in the housing where the outside air enters the heat/vent system. From previous posts there are at least 3 filters you can use. When you put the plastic plugs back to hold the grill down, push the plugs in then push the screws in with your finger.
