Default Hey, new here.

A few weeks ago I got a Pt Cruiser, 01 Limited Edition. It was in good shape, and had 34,400 miles on it. We paid $10,600, and after taxes, tags, and registration, we ended up paying $11,400. They originally had the car marked for $13k, and the Blue book was $13,300.

I'm 18, and my Grandma bought it for me for graduation, I had a limit of $10,000, so I started to look for a car I wanted. After some thought I decided to start looking at PT Cruisers. I took a test drive and after that I just knew I had to have the car.

This car is now my Daily Driver, since I was 16 I've been driving a old car everyday, and I was starting to get tired of using it all the time. I still have though, it is now my "Fun Car".

So far I'm liking my new car. It's very comfortable, good sound system, nice A/C, and plenty of room for all my friends. It's slow, but it seems to have just enough power to get around on. I;m not looking to really fix it up, all my money is devoted to other my car. I wouldn't mind doing a few things to it, but parts are just too expensive. So far all I've done to it is put in some Falmed floor mats, and bolted on a exhaust tip I had laying around the garage.

I joined here hoping that if I had a question, or problem, someone here could answer it.

Here are some picutres:

Welcome.
I think you owe your grandma a lot of thanks - you better take her wherever she wants to go.
It may not accelerate like your Malibu, but it rides better and stops better....[?]

My Grandma lives about 4hours away from me. For a short while my dad gave me his old 89 Dodge Conversion van to use as a DD. It was ok the the gas mileage was really bad (about as bad as the Malibu). I'm now using my new car to go see her, next week hopefully.

The PT Cruiser definetley handles and stops better then my Malibu. It takes corners alot sharper. Also, it is just so much more better as a Daily Driver. I'll probally keep the Pt Cruiser till I'm onto a Career track and have enough money to buy another newer car. My dad likes my new car, and told me he wants to buy it when I'm done with it. The next car I'll probally get is a Dodge Magnum Wagon, or perhaps the new Chrysler 300M, but that will be a few years from now.

Stick with the PT. Even tho it is a "money pit" when it comes to "MODS" it is like a blank canvas, you just gotta add things (MODS) to it. Welcome aboard. [^]

Actually, I was thinking about getting one of those Air Filters.

I have one on the Malibu, but I didn't really notice a difference. Only reason why I put it on was because the paper one woudl get gunkedf up after a coupel of months (Carb sometimes backfires when the engine is cold).

I might have to go get one though, wouldn't hurt anything.

Are there any other cheapo "mods" I can do?

welcome to the forum. My PT is a DD as well (for the wife that is, she allows me to drive it once in a while!) you may want to try wyckoff chrysler as well for parts. you will see the ad come up on the forum from time to time.
