Default Newbie here also

Hi all, I have been lurking on here for some time. I have just recently purchased a PT
2002 Almond pearl? I think is what the dealer told me. I have been reading almost all of the posts and I see that one of the concerns is the gas mileage...hmmm mine is a lot better than what i am seeing posted here, but our gallon is bigger than the US gallon so I geuss that would explain that.(also a lot more money) I have been looking at the after market add ons for performance. One of many questions I have is the throttle body spacers? do they do anything that they claim to?. I have a long list of things I want to add on but the wife says it looks good just the way it is [:I]
I am sure I will have a lot more but for now thanks.

First of all, welcome to the forum. Secondly, check out these past posts:

P.S. The Cruiser does look good the way it is but kick it up a notch anyway[?](it will even look better).

I don't think putting any after market parts will help gas mileage. The factory always makes the lowest possible. Also I notice my PT eats alot of gas compare to my other 2.4L car. May be it's the way I drive the car

I persoanlly wouldn't waste my money on one of those spacers. I doubt it'll make a difference, and even it it did I wouldn't be worth it.

I've noticed that there is very very few performance parts for the PT Cruiser. Also, the stuff that is out there is VERY expensive. I put in a K&N Filter, and removed that air silencer, and thats probally all I'll do. I also didn't even really notice a difference doing that stuff.

If you bought a car to fix up and go fast, you bought the wrong one. I love my PT Cruiser, it's a wonderful Daily Driver, however, my old Malibu can be made alot faster for alot cheaper (thank god for small block chevys).

It's your car and money, so do what you want, but don't expect the car to become a street terror with a few over pirced bolt-on parts.

Thanks for the info, I never was looking to make it a street demon..I just read alot about the spacer and thought if it worked alittle bit it might be worth the cost. The cruiser is a daily driver and so far I love it..don't understand some of the comments on here about it. like the power and ride, noise....etc. Mine rides good and is really quite on the highway and as far as power goes it's as good as any other four cylinder I have had. The gas mileage is not great around town but on the highway it is great. Much better than I am seeing posted on here. I just got back from a 220 mile trip and was very happy with the gas mileage.
The only problem I am having with it is...I find myself washing it a lot more than any other car I have had. I did see one in the city yesterday that was lowered with custom wheels and dual exhaust, flames and it looked very sharp.
One question ...do the US models have the same size gas tank as the Canadian models?

Welcome, umaxman.
I love the color.
Quite sure gas tanks are the same size, world-wide.
Best performance tips I can give are an air intake and synthetic oil. Both will help both mileage and pep, but withthe air intake, you have to resist listening to the intake roar when you bury the pedal.
