Sad to hear about any break-in. Any automotive glass company in your area should have or can get a replacement window for you and install it too. If you windows were tinted, you can ask if they have replacement windows with the tint you want (some have different shades and colors available that are part of the glass, not added on). Dream Cruiser 3's came with PPG's Solextra Glass, aquamarine colored (front) and blue colored privacy glass (rear) that absorbs ultraviolet and infrared energy). And there may be laminated glass windows available, called Safe and Sound (reduces cabin noise). It's all a matter of the replacement cost and cleanup of broken glass from your interior and inner door panel.

Call around. If their cost is higher than your deductible, file a claim. In fact, maybe you should get a police report filed [:I]

My insurance didnt go up (Progressive) when my GT got broken into...and there was a lot of damage and stuff missing

If you haven't already, report it to police. Reports are used to determine coverage by patrols. Take Sci-Fi's advice - I don't think it's something you want to try doing yourself. Insurance is another item - don't know what your deductible is - might want to get a ballpark # from a glass place first.

Sorry for you.

Definitely report it to the local police. Insurance companies often prefer a police report for significant incidences of vandalism/theft. The break-in and glass damage would normally be covered by your comprehensive coverage and should not result in an increase of your insurance rates unless you have habit or develop a habit of filing a lot of claims for vandalism. Check with an insurance agent from your insurance company w/o mentioning specifics, you should get an honest assessment. Remember, this is one of the reasons why you have insurance. Good luck.

Thank you all for your support of a fellow pt owner! this forum is really a great place!
I have done just about everything everyone suggested and now I feel much better. My cruiser should be repaired by tomorrow, which is great since I am leaving on an extended camping trip Thursday and would hate to leave it in it's present condition.

The one hitch to the whole repair (and the item which threw it past the price of my deductable.. 250) was the black rubber weather striping which goes around three sides of the window. It had been pulled out (via vandal) with some kind of tool and was tweaked. It must have a metal frame running through the middle of it or something. Anyway that will have to be replaced as well and that's 114.00 from the dealer + 211.00 parts and labor for the window. I am thinking I might ask my adjuster about getting the car detailed to remove any remaining glass slivers.. we'll see how that goes.

Anyway thanks a bunch. Next time I promise I will post some good news or a picture of my beautiful red and chrome baby. [^] Bad luck comes in threes right? So I guess it's good luck from now on!

sorry about the break in--but your course of action has been the way to go. do the paperwork, get it fixed and move on. the past does not have to dictate the future. (but keep an eye open yust in case)
