You can go to www.ukcruisers.net and go to the forums. They are all RHD except me and a couple of others.

Also try Cruisers in Australia and New Zeland, they are all RHD. I was sitting at a light in Santa Ana the other day and saw a 32 Ford 3 window coup that looked like it had just come out of an old barn. It was all rust, but it was being driven! I noticed the wiper blade above the window was on the right side. That is the second one I've seen. Good luck with your project.[?]

This is a popular question in the land of imports since Japan is RHD and people are trying to make the there cars more like those models. Your have two choises:
Find a RHD and have it imported and then deal with smog and safty certification. There are places that help do this (just check the web)and since there is a U.S. certifed version it shouldn't be too complex. Or find a shop that that sell JDM (Japan Direct Market) engines. Usually they cut the cars in half and ship the the whole half to the U.S. If you ask they could import the whole front of a PT and then you would have all the part you need. I will foreward you that neither of these options are very cheap. It really depends if you want to deal with the mechanical work or the legal work. I do know a couple Hondas that that are from Japan but have the vin #'s and stuff off a totalled US car to get around the problem. This is illegal as hell of course. They make the right hand drive cars in Mexico with the left hand drive ones. I don't know of a reason they couldn't build a US spec PT with right hand drive but I don't know how you would go about looking into it. I know that some manufacture did to sell right hand drive cars on a limited deal for mail delivery but i don't know how the program worked or if Chryster was in on it (I know Jeep was). I hope this gives you some help if you are serious about going forward with this. I would definately try to get as much info on the various RHD versions as possable. Some times the are different wheels, interiors and/or options. Most will have different plate holders cause of the various plate sizes. If you are going to take the time to import a PT you should take some time and find out what extra goodies you can get with it. |
