Default Chrysler is still in denial

The recall that has been everywhere....on the news on the NHTSA website. Well, I called Chrysler again today and they are saying it will be a month or two before they make the recall official. Which means, we are all driving around waiting for an under the hood fire. What is wrong with them?? [xx(]
I love my car but Daimler Chrysler is not winning any praise from me right now!

Right now? They haven't had praise from me since I noticed a missing horn and SWAY BAR and lets not forget getting hosed on S2.

Look at it this way, if your car burns down, you might get a good chunk of change from a lawsuit

Im with him. Me thinks a match would have your car/house/whatever paid off in no time...although you should probably get your Chrysler's response in writing

*omg Im kidding *

I fully agree that DC is really going slow [B)] on this recall, but, with "only" 9 fires (nine too many) and no injuries out of 438,391 units, this doesn't appear to be a "high risk" safety concern--unless of course, it happens to your car. [V]

If you're worried about it, it's REALLY simple to check out.
Just look to see if the hose is rubbing and, if it is, just pull it off the trans bolt a little. If it has rubbed, look to see how badly.

(I did my own. Better than trusting DC.)

The odds are in our favor. Seriously. Deer collisions are a higher risk. If you're worried, do as 2SB suggests.

Thanks for the advice!

I think mine already went once. I was dropping my son off at school when I went to leave I noticed a grinding sound and then noticed my steering was really difficult then it started to smoke (maybe steam is a better term) luckily I was less than a mile from the dealer so I drove right over and they replaced the power steering hose, but they told me it became disconnected. Now I wonder if it had not burned through. But this was a year ago so I doubt they added a clip or moved the location of the line.

I think I will take your advice and check it myself, but what do I do if it is burned through again? Will the dealer replace it under the warranty?[:I] Will they add the clip and move the hose?? [:I]

It doesn't burn. It appears that a trans bolt rubs a hole in the line and the spraying fluid may hit something hot enough to catch fire.

If it's touching, the metal end of the hose (about 12") can be slightly bent to pull the rubber off the bolt. Basically the hose was just positioned wrong when built. If it's rubbed enough into the hose, the hose needs replacing. Our hose had barely rubbed through the surface rib design so I doubt DC would offer a free one.[:I]
