Here ya go.

If I may say something before you run off and we never see your again. Of all the overheating problems we see on this forum, and there's plenty, I don't think I've ever seen one that changing the thermostat helped. Come on back after you change it.

you want to share a little more info on your overheating problem. Crewzin is spot on as usual as it seems most overheating issues are not related to the thoermostat. At least in these cars

To add to what CREWZIN said, unless your cooling system is full of rusted water Thermostat seldom stop working. There are some circumstances that the thermal spring becomes stretched do to extreme heat but then if that usually were to happen something else caused it and the effect of that failed the thermostat.
And as OurPTGT suggested a little more information would help us to help you!

Welcome, hope you hang around a bit this is a great group of PT owners here!

heres how to do the thermo , its easy.

Drain some fluid *so when you look in the radiator cap, you dont see any*

with the rad cap removed, look straight at the housing, you will see 2 bolts. one on each side of the housing, holding it to the motor, Remove them. Next remove the nuts holding down your upper intake. Lift the intake 5 or 6 inches and then take off the clamp holding the coolant hose that runs across the top of the fuel rail. remove the hose from the housing. disconnect the overflow hose *tiny one in the front of the thermo housing *the part the radiator cap was attached to*

Lift the assembly out, you will see the thermostat :-) swap that and the gasket!!!, reassemble :-)

He never said what year PT he had so there's a few steps you left out if it's an 01 or 02. You can't just lift the upper manifold by taking off the 5 bolts in front.
