Default Driver's Side Front Door

OK so I will admit I am new to the PT and it's quirks. I have a 2002 and the drivers door handle/button doesn't like to pop back out and the door won't close/click closed. When you lock it, it will stay shut but not tight. You can hear air with no obvious damage to door gasket. I assumed it's the latch mech in the door but I don't see them on Rock Auto. Before I rip open the door, does anyone know of a common problem with these cars causing this?

Try some penetrating oil. And we'll go from there.

A little credit please.... When I got it Every joint, Hinge & lock was lubed, and then lubed again. I hate squeeky sticky doors. I was just wondering since maybe the door handles are on Rock Auto maybe they like to stick. Maybe there is a linkage in the door that likes to stick? I tried looking through 20+ pages of forum but didn't find anything about the latch mech. Plenty of locks though.

I haven't heard of any similar problems. Looks like you might have to pull the door trim and see what's up.

You might first try PTCrew. Learn it or Burn it. It's another PT forum that a member may have had the same or similar problem.

As Tim said, not a common problem on this forum and as far as using lube, if you don't write down what you tried to do when you put your question on the forum, we can't assume you tried anything.

We're getting probably a dozen people a day with one problem or another and 99% of them don't tell us anything they tried except that they have a problem.

In this economy credit has to be earned! Like CREWZIN said if you haven't said so, I don't know you tried it. Many usually haven't. You are new to me so without any prier experiences with you, I have no idea of you level of abilities. Many come and are complete newbies far as diy. No put down intended. Just start'n at the basics. I don't put down the newbies either, they gotta start somewhere!

No you are all correct I should have posted more info on what I had tried. As far as experience I have pulled, swapped and built more V8s then I care to think about in my younger days, ( I am now 45) and I have always done most of my own work. I am not sure how keen I will be on working on this cramped engine but only time will tell. I need to install front speakers so it looks like I will looking at the door latch while I am in there. I will update the post with what I find. Thanks for the help.

Did you find out what the door handle problem was? I have a 2002 that is exhibiting the same symptoms, that is the interior handle doesn't return to closed position and when this happens the door won't latch. It seems hard to work compared to the passenger side front door interior handle. Pulled door panel, removed latch actuating rod, and the handle is as free as can be. Seems to be the latch assembly?
