Default 2005 vs. 2006 GT?

Hi everyone, I am currently looking for a daily driver as I can't afford commuting in my truck any more. I've come across 2 PT Cruiser GT's I am looking at and wonder which would be a better choice. Both are GT's and the 05 has only 23k miles but is automatic, the 06 has the 5 speed but 78k miles. I miss driving a stick and think the 5 speed would be a lot more fun but over 50k more miles on that one.

From a performance standpoint is one better than the other? What about from a reliability standpoint? Also what kind of fuel economy can I expect from one of these? Google shows mileage looks pretty crappy for a 4 cylinder. My last daily was a Lincoln Mark VIII and I would knock down 27 highway in her (totaled her when she had a disagreement with a deer) I am seeing that the Cruiser GT's were rated at 24 highway, is that accurate?

If price were equal which would you go for and why?

Thanks for any answers,

-Joe

The 5-speed will give you better mileage, and is cheaper to maintain - an auto should get a fluid flush (about $200) every 50,000 miles.
The 5-speed is also more trouble-free.

Is there a difference other than appearance?

06 has the highest hp, 5 speeds are harder to find in any year but are the best IMHO

electrical system in gen 1's are older while the gen2's have the updated most current system. I have a alarm, remote start and subs powered to it with no issues

Interior is different as well.

I have a 06 gt 5 speed

I would take a 05 5 speed over an 06 auto though, ceteris parabus

Yes that is why I would like the stick over an auto. That and the fun factor :-)
But being used the mileage difference seems like it would favor the '05

But can't the older engines hit the same HP with a chip change?
