Lot's of good advice here. I hope the OP returns and posts what was found out based on our suggestions. In my opinion, this is whats best about a great internet forum like this one.

maybe but seeing who guessed right IMHO is not necessarily productive

No. Getting feedback that our advice helped is the productive part. Most of the responses covered the same information but with more emphases on one aspect or another. Helping someone should not be a competition. As long as we were actually helpful to the person with the problem, then everyone wins.

Do you get a gurgling sound sometimes? Sometimes you can get the coolant smell if someone was clumsy and spilt some of it near the back where the overflow bottle is.

I had many issues myself with overheating. New radiator for me which recently sprang a leak. Turned out the fan plastic casing was slightly warped and was knocking the damn thing. Not had an issue since though.

I would say the advice about finding out what the issue was first before getting new parts is the best advice. Otherwise you could just be throwing money at it all willy nilly.
