I was just going to post the same story. We just started noticing a hot, waxy ( like hot wax for skiis and snowboards ) smell eminating from the engine compartment or nearby, after the car has run for a short while, looks like it's off to the stealer for a checkup.[xx(]

Yea, someone posted the same thing under the "General PT Discussions". So much for "improved quality" as the story says.

Anyone know the affected hose?
Id like to check it myself. Thanks! |

The article in Reuters says it's contact, on some vehicles, between a high pressure power steering hose and the automatic transaxle cover. If you ae going to be checking your own, why not check them all in that area ?[:I]

Or does anybody have a picture of the suspect area?
I know it's hard to see in the engine compartment, let along get a decent picture. |

The NITSA bulletin specifies non-turbo automatics only, all years. Turbos, and sticks seem to be 'off the hook'.
