Default Turn Signals Not Working

Both Left and Right Turn Signals not working. Brake lights work. No Turn Signals lights on dash. Looked in the owners manual, and service manual, for the fuse, and no joy. The inside and ouside fuse panels show no fuse for Turn Signals. Service Manual says that the 4-way and Turn Signals both use the same flasher unit. The 4-ways work. Is the fuse inside the flasher? The combination flasher unit gets power from two different sources. At least on the '03 models, the hazard warning get power from Batt while the turn signals get power from the RUN-ACC Fuse 15. That is how the hazard warning can operate with the switch off but the turn signals can't.

To clarify: there are no fuses in the flasher units. Fuse 15 powers the turn signals and the wipers (front and rear). If fuse 15 is blown your turn signals will be out as will your front and rear wipers.

If it isn't the fuse, could be the switch. The blinker module usually fails on only one side - left or right, not both. The blinker module can work 4-way and not work for direction.
By the way, Thanks for signalling - seems we're in a minority...

I agree Don, most people wouldn't even know if their
turn signals weren't working

I can actually help in this! My 01 does this from time to time. I knew that the fuses were linked with the hazards, so i just depressed the hazard button once and then released it. It works every time. I am sure there is some technical problem that causes this, but my philosphy is that if that works every time, then oh well.

Interesting but no help in my case. The turn signals on my 01 have failed to work 3 or 4 times over the 3 1/2 years I've had the car. There is no apparent reason and in all cases they have started to work on their own in an hour or two. The hazards continue to function, the wipers still work, but the left and right signal lights do not work -no clicking, no arrow indicator, and of course no flashing lights. It must be an intermittent problem in the switch controlled by the lever. Depressing the hazard button doesn't help start them again. Working the lever a few times sometimes helps, but mostly they just start working on their own. I was hoping it would fail and get fixed under warranty but it always has fixed itself before I could get to the dealer. Last occurance was last Sunday. I thought, "You just had to wait to fail until it was on my ticket, didn't you". Then they started working again and are still good. It's a bit of a nuisance because I never know when they will fail!

On your bulbs do you use electrical grease. Could stop corrosion that could be giving you a ground also check your battery ground cable. Mine did this and I wiggled the ground cable and retightened hasn't happened since.

Mine did that for the first time last month. Worked fine on the right side but nothing on the left. They seem to be fine now but i noticed my hazards only flash in the front not the rear anymore and do not light up on the dash.[:I]
