Default liftgate struts
How are the liftgate struts removed ? The repair manual shows torx head screws, however, on my 08 there are no screws visible. Looks like there is a metal clip that may come off but not sure.

They've been replaced before...just put a screwdriver on 1 side of the clip & pop it off...strut will just pull out by hand.

What you have is the original style. Once the clip is unlocked, there is a ball stud that stays in the body and you simply clip on the replacement struts:





I like the original style because with some replacements, you have to screw into the body the mounting screw, and you could possibly cross thread during installation.



With the ball stud type, you never have to mess with the body threads.
