Code P1776

I have a 2005 pt cruiser 2.4L turbo.I was driving and the check engine light popped on.Went to auto zone and came up with code P0700 and P1776.The car is in limp mode and won't go over 40mph.What could be the problem or fix?

Welcome to the forum.

P1776 Chrysler Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in LR Position ... (this is a transmission issue which may involve replacing the valve body and solenoid pack; on some models there is a TSB on this problem so be firm with your dealer / Chrysler).

P0700 The automatic transmission computer has a problem

Both indicate a transaxle/transmission problem which needs a better diagnostic tool to pinpoint exactly what has to be done.

Does the Tsb say that it's either the valve body or solenoid pack?Im a woman and just wanted to get a little info on what could be the problem before I let the shop fix it or maybe try to screw me over.

DISCUSSION:
If the vehicle operator describes a MIL illumination and the technician finds DTC P1776
Solenoid Switch Valve Latched in LR Position is set, the DRBIIIŽ can be used to access
the event data screen and look at the “TRS Code” reading.
NOTE: The solenoid switch valve is located in the valve body and NOT in the
solenoid pack.
TRS Code Reads TR2
If the “TRS Code” displays “TR2” it is an indication that the manual valve was not fully in
the OD position at the time the DTC was set. Check the shifter cable adjustment and
adjust if necessary. Also check the shift control system for excessive friction and/or routing
issues.
TRS Code Reads OD
If the “TRS Code” displays “OD” then a sticky solenoid switch valve is the primary cause.
Perform the proper diagnosis for the valve body. Inspect for foreign material in the solenoid
switch valve and plugs.

Re: Code P1776

P1776 - Solenoid switch valve stuck in L/R position

Possible causes and solutions:

1. Torn sealing ring on OD accumulator piston due to poor machining of bore

Repair accumulator bore and replaced sealing rings

2. Possible shift cable adjustment or failed pressure switch

Check shift cable adjustment & solenoid pack build date.

3. Sticking solenoid switch valve

Free up stuck valves in valve body

4. Failed L/R pressure switch

Replace the solenoid pack

Re: Code P1776

Hi All, I also have a similar problem. I live in the UK and drive a manual 2005 PT cruiser 2.2 CRD diesel. The engine service light came on and so using a cheap OBD scanner I saw two errors they are P1775 and P1776. My question What is/are the part(s) that I need to buy. Where they are located on the engine/gear box (picture please). A link to the item(s) where I can buy it/them. Regards chunky!!!!

For reference - we don't have 2.2 CRD diesel engines on this forum.

I would first check your transmission oil level if you are getting P01775 code.
