Non turbo Pt Cruisers have a two speed fan, lower speed for engine cooling and high speed for AC condensing. Low speed usually goes out first because it used all the time where the the high speed is used to cool Freon lowering the pressure in the AC condenser with the AC on or Defrost on.

Best to check it when the engine shakes with the AC on to see if it is running.
+1 ^^^^^^^

Agree with JoeX. Brushes can be just barely touching and maybe intermittent.

I'm confused. The radiator fan is running when the AC is on. The car ALWAYS shakes when the AC is on. JoeX said that non-turbo Cruisers have a two speed fan. I posted this in the Turbo forum because it is about my Turbo Cruiser. Do the Turbos have a different fan? What should I be looking for?

Only the 2003 Turbo fan is different. It has a one speed variable fan and it is very expensive.

I think it has too much movement. I would check the upper and lower torque struts. The lower torque strut (dogbone) is usually the one that wears out first.

You should be able to crawl underneath with a flashlight and see if the rubber has tears in it.

I would guess it jumps pretty good when you put it in drive or reverse.

Thanks guys! I will crawl under and take a look at the rubber. Are there special mounts for the GT?
