I had this problem with the Cowboy Cruiser, 2003 autostick too.
Many trips to my fav dealer; replaced tranny solenoid twice with only short term fix.
Finally discovered a loose wire to the connector to the tranny solenoid.
So, every time the tranny solenoid was worked on it touched for a while, but eventulayy sagged away from contact.

Never had a problem after that was fixed.
