Default Recall: some 5-speed Turbos

Recall / 2003 PT Turbo:
DC has determined that a welded pin internal to the dual-mass flywheel (DMF) assembly can unseat and become lodged between the flywheel and the clutch disc. If this occurs, the clutch may not disengage when the clutch pedal is depressed. Local dealers will replace the flywheel and clutch assemblies with the updated design parts. Recall date: March 4, 2003.

Model affected: 2003 PT Cruiser Turbo (manual transmission models only) manufactured from October 14, 2002 through November 29, 2002. Potential number of units affected: 816.

If you haven't received a recall notice and think your vehicle may be affected contact your local DC dealer, or call the DC Customer Service Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403. Have your VIN number available when you call. DC notification number: C09

Looks like I'm off the hook (I think)....

My 5spd was manufactured in Jan '03.

I'll still look out for the recall notice just in case, though...

Somewhere in Mexico...

Supervisor Pedro: Jose, we got a call from America about funny things - when did you start using those parts we made ourselves?

Lineworker Jose: Me not so sure, boss, I think it was from September or October until the real parts arrived in November or Decemberrr.

Supervisor Pedro: Gracias, Jose, we'll just say some dates in those months, and you stick to the story, ok?

Lineworker Jose: Si, senor.

Is there a FAQ that will explain how a vin number can be translated (or checked online)into build date and backtrack the shipping, assy and birth of a PT?

I fell in date range . Called DC Monday . Gave them vin number as I did't get a notice. Was told my GT wasn't an affected vehicle. Don't really care for the way this is being handled !

Well..I called DC this morning and they said my GT is one of the recall vehicles. I didn't get a recall notice though. WHen I called my dealership they said they just (Tuesday) got the info from Chrysler about the recall. So are on order! Hopefully mine won't break while I'm waiting!

I wish there was a Recall On my Srt-4. I would have free labor my upgraded clutch. I know I will end up changing it my self this year but I dont look foward to it.

Another recall victim here! I called the center and confirmed it. They put me through to my local Huntington Beach Chrysler dealer and they didn't even know about it so they said they would have to research it and get back to me. Of course there is no loaner car available either, oh well. Rental cars are cheap compared to a new clutch I guess.

Inferno Red GT, chrome wheels, chrome AMP fuel door, chrome side spears, PT Cruiser 3rd light diffuser, silencers removed from airbox...ain't this car fun?!?!?

I called DC and found out my PT is on the list too! Called dealer and they won't have the part until next Tuesday. I'm in the same boat crazy cruzr; hopefully mine won't snap in the next few days! Just take it easy and hold off on those power launches for awhile!
