Default Squeaking from dash on an 06 PT?

Hi, new to the forum.
I have a 2006 Limited which has a very annoying squeaking noise that comes from somewhere behind the dash, depending on the temperature.
It sounds like two pieces of plastic rubbing together (or rubbing against polystyrene).
It's quiet if I set the temperature to hot or if the car has been sitting in the sun on a warm day and I don't put the air con on.
As soon as I turn the temperature down on a cool day (50 - 65 F) or switch the air con on if it's warmer, the squeaking starts whenever I go over bumps (which there are a lot of round here!).

The sound gets quieter if I close the air vents so my best guess at the moment is that something deep down in the dash, probably to do with the vent tubes, rubs against something. But if the tube (or whatever it is) warms up, it expands just enough to stop the rubbing.

Has anyone on here experienced something similar and managed to get it fixed? If so, what and where was it?

This is the one issue that is kinda spoiling my car at the moment.

Thanks,
Steve
