First pt

Just a question, on my pt.
Just had my car serviced, and they checked the battery, as part of regular service, with oil change.
They say my battery is good.
My question is how fast does the starter spin the engine over. ?
This seems to crank slow, to me, it starts every time,
But doesn't spin over like other cars I have owned.
It's a 2007 non Turbo. 120,000 miles

Nice looking whip. If you're not happy with the cranking speed, take it to another parts store and have them check the battery and charging system. You can't take just one places word for anything anymore.

Thanks , think I will
I cleaned the battery terminal's with baking soda, they were corroded.

Along with the other good advise. I would check you ground cable at the frame/body.

Thanks, as luck would have it, just seen a woman with a pt cruiser pull into a parking spot, and asked her if she would restart her car
For me, and she did. Spins over much faster than mine.
I Am going to put a new battery in mine, have no idea how old this one is., and winter is coming on.
Thanks for all your help, will let you know, if the battery does the trick.

Winter's coming on? What state are you in? I need to come visit. I'm sick of the heat and humidity here in FL.

Stopped on the way home , picked up a new Battery , when I took my core battery back, I picked up a set of plugs , Autolite iridium xp , will put them in on Thursday.

Re: First pt

You really ought to stay with the OEM Champion Copper core plugs. Even though you have the change them more often, the copper plugs give you the best spark and performance for your money. Iridium, platinum, etc may last longer, but they don't burn as hot. Copper is STILL your best conductor for a nice, blue white spark. And thanks for the photo. Makes me homesick for Tennessee.

I checked on it recently just in case my PT needed one. A genuine MOPAR catalytic, which is a direct fit, is about $1200 plus a $200 core charge, plus the labor to have it installed or you can do it yourself.

Some auto parts store sell universal mount (welded in place) or direct fit which will bolt in like the MOPAR unit, for about $400 or less.

The only issue would be the performance of an after-market vs. MOPAR catalytic. I've never had a catalytic replaced on any vehicle that I've owned, so I don't know about the performance of any non-MOPAR catalytic.

Is it because of some emissions regulations? Try some other auto parts places.

I would wait until I got a better diagnosis than relying on Autozone to replace anything major like a catalytic converter.

Re: First pt

Just tried to put my plugs in , and was almost done, and I thought I dropped a bolt, out of the throttle body, so I spent the last half hour of daylight looking for a bolt on the ground, sliding a magnet all over the place.,
So I gave up, and picked up all my stuff, just before I closed the hood, I looked for the last bolt, so I could go get a new one tomorrow, and I looked at the throttle body
And there was a bolt in the hole, that my socket slipped off of., it never fell out!.
I just checked the gap on my old plugs 2 were .058
1 was .065, and the other .055. Champion re16mc

Re: First pt

I'm using the Champion RE14MCC5 (470) Copper Plus Spark Plugs in my '05 Turbo lite gapped at .042. So far runs great at that setting. The gap on yours sounds way too big.

I've found if you drop a bolt or nut under the hood of a PT it gets sucked into a black hole somewhere but will never fall through to the ground.
